Adria Amos: Veterinarian offers holistic care to animals large and small


When Dr. Cheryl Cross took a veterinary acupuncture class in 2007 so she could help relieve her dog’s pain due to a knee injury, she had no idea it would change the course of her career. The class was the first step in Cross’ discovery of the benefits of holistic, sometimes called integrative, veterinary care.

“Acupuncture, herbal support, supplements, diet, manual therapies like massage provide other opportunities to support the patient, treat pain, help when there really aren’t any other avenues,” she said.

Recently, the veterinarian opened a private practice in Bearden’s River Dog Bakery offering holistic services for local animals. More
